HOLLYWOOD — City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell will join Councilmember Tom LaBonge and a group of professional actors, directors, writers, designers, stage managers and producers, as well as other local community leaders, to celebrate the official designation of “Hollywood Theatre Row” on Santa Monica Boulevard.
A ceremonial sign unveiling to commemorate the designation will take place on Monday, June 1, at 1:00 PM at the southeast corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Wilcox Ave.
Councilmember O’Farrell, a former actor and theatre ensemble member, won unanimous support from his colleagues on a motion that designated Santa Monica Boulevard at Wilcox Avenue as Hollywood Theatre Row.
A creative hub for the theatre arts, Hollywood Theatre Row includes the highest concentration of live theatres within the City of Los Angeles and hosts hundreds of productions and thousands of audience members each year. Live theatre enriches the cultural vitality of a community and provides significant economic benefits. Many notable actors began their careers on Hollywood Theatre Row, and it continues to be a dynamic environment in which artists are able to hone their craft while providing enriching experiences for theatre patrons from across the Los Angeles region.
