Elton John performs at old Tower Records parking lot

WEST HOLLYWOOD — Thousands of fans flocked to the site of the old Tower Records store on Sunset Boulevard Feb. 27 to see Elton John perform a free concert.

The Rocket Man was joined at one point by Lady Gaga for a performance of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” TMZ.com reported.

John announced the show — which was also streamed live on AOL.com — the night before the concert and again the morning of the show on his official Twitter account.

The 68-year-old pop star released his latest album earlier this month, titled “Wonderful Crazy Night.”

John also hosted his annual Oscars viewing party Feb. 28 at West Hollywood Park, while Lady Gaga performed at the Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
