When Cassandra Bankson visited the doctor for chronic lower back pain last year, she didn’t expect to find out that she has two vaginas. The 22-year-old model, YouTube star, and popular beauty vlogger announced yesterday that she does, indeed, have two vaginas.
Back pain is a pretty common malady — more than 26 million Americans aged 20 to 64 suffer from frequent back pain. Bankson’s diagnosis was a little more unusual, however. After testing, the doctor found that Bankson has only one kidney, but two vaginas, two uteri, and two cervixes.
The condition, which is known as uterus didelphys, could affect Bankson’s ability to have children. According to the Huffington Post, fewer than 100 women in the world have the condition, which has plagued Bankson with pain, cramps, and intestinal issues for much of her life.
“Ever since I was younger, even without knowing about this condition, I’ve gone to the doctor because I was bleeding for 23-28 days and I would have two periods a month,” she explained.
Her family, as well as the rest of America, was shocked to hear the news.
“I kind of walked in and said, ‘Guess what, mom. I’m twice the woman — I have two vaginas,'” Bankson said in an interview. “She really didn’t know what to say and my dad was really shocked. He’s a math guy so was trying to figure out how this would even be possible, but they’re cool with it.”
According to People Magazine, Bankson is a popular YouTube vlogger who creates beauty tutorials for her channel, DiamondsAndHeels14, which has over 773,000 subscribers and many more fans.
