Cue the dry ice and the heart-pounding music.
A ripple of oohs and aahs greeted the unveiling of some of the latest high performance models at the 2013 L.A. Auto Show, Nov. 22 — Dec. 1.
A total of 56 debuts will be un-wrapped at nearly 30 news conferences across the opening three press days that kicked off on Wednesday.
In addition to the roster of global premieres, a variety of North American debuts will be unveiled, including BMW’s 4 Series Coupe, i8, i3 and 5 Series Sedan, the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG and the Subaru WRX.
The show underscores the rising trends in green technology, luxury vehicles and groundbreaking concept cars. More than two dozen green vehicles will be featured, including models from Acura, BMW, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, ranging from alternative fuel models to brand new plug-ins.
Meanwhile, there was also a touch of racing car glamor with British racing legend Derek Bell, who won the 1986 and 1987 Le Mans with Hans Joachim Stuck and Al Hobert greeting fans in his capacity as a global ambassador for Bentley.
