It’s just the latest cheeky prank in a series of many silly One Direction stunts the band’s members have pulled on one another.
Recently, One Directioner Liam Payne teamed up with frequent partner-in-crime Louis Tomlinson to poke fun at bandmate Niall Horan’s love for his luxury Range Rover. The two wrapped Horan’s Range Rover in toilet paper and ‘decorated’ the vehicle with an array of objects, ranging from a giant teddy bear to a trash can to an umbrella, according to the UK Metro.
Payne and Tomlinson were barely unable to contain their joy for the prank, documenting their decorative work on Twitter and Instagram and getting the hashtag #OhNoNiall trending around the world for hours afterward. Horan, 21, had been the butt of another joke that weekend while he’d been caddying for fellow Irishman Rory McIlroy.
It may have been all in good fun, but it seems Payne and Tomlinson’s prank backfired in an unexpected way. By posting before and after pictures of Horan’s car — with its license plate visible — on social media, they unintentionally created a security scare, the UK Mirror reports. One Direction fans are certifiably insane, remember.
Horan himself took the prank in good spirits, at least, saying “I think they call it modern art…”
The average car wrap will be viewed anywhere from 30,000 to 70,000 times in a given day — but we’re confident this particular car wrap was seen by millions.
As for the state of One Direction following Zayn Malik’s departure for the band, reports say the now-foursome will be getting to work on their next album soon following their upcoming world tour.
