LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Former Los Angeles Lakers star Robert Horry was
behind the wheel of a car that collided with a motorcycle on the eastbound
Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in the southwest Los Angeles area near Inglewood,
leaving the rider hospitalized, the California Highway Patrol reported today.
Horry, 43, was driving a 2014 Infiniti that collided with a 2013 Yamaha
motorcycle driven by Xerxes Baldonasa, 44, of Long Beach, about 5:10 p.m.
Tuesday on the 105, west of Normandie Avenue, according to the CHP.
Baldonasa was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries,
the CHP reported.
Horry whose city of residence was listed as Richmond, Texas, wasn’t
injured.
According to the CcHP’s preliminary investigation, Horry was in the No.
1 lane, and Baldonasa was riding “between two sets of double yellow lines that
separate the High Occupancy Vehicle lane and the No. 1 lane, approaching the
left rear of (the Infiniti).”
“(Horry) attempted to change lanes from the No. 1 lane into the HOV
lane, crossing over the double yellow lines as (the motorcycle) approached (the
Infiniti),” the CHP reported. “This movement caused (the Infiniti) to collide
into (the motorcycle).”
The accident remains under investigation. Neither motorist was arrested.
Horry played for the Lakers from 1997-2003. He has also played for the
Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs.
