LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Interim Los Angeles County Sheriff John Scott
presided today over a graduation ceremony for 48 members of the sheriff’s
academy.
Scott, who was joined by Professor Patrick Hauser of East Los Angeles
College, passed out diplomas to the members of Academy Class 397 in Monterey
Park.
Some of the class members became sheriff’s deputies, while others will
join the La Verne and Montebello police departments, according to the sheriff’s
department.
Collin Sam, a graduate who will join the sheriff’s department, said she
worked very hard to get to this point.
“I just hope everything I’ve learned will continue on with me and I
will continue to grow with the department,” Sam said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is the largest sheriff’s
department in the country, providing law enforcement to unincorporated areas of
L.A. County and to 42 incorporated cities who have contracted with the agency.
