“Suspicious package” in West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CNS) – The discovery of a “suspicious” device that
turned out to be harmless shut down a stretch of busy Sunset Boulevard in West
Hollywood today for several hours and prompted the evacuation of several
buildings.

West Sunset Boulevard about 10:30 a.m.
Deputies evacuated buildings on either side of the location before the
device was “rendered safe” by a bomb squad robot and taken for forensic
testing, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
A search of the area turned up no additional devices, Saldana said.
Sunset Boulevard, which had been closed between Hammond Street and
Doheny Drive, was reopened about 2 p.m., according to the sheriff’s department.
