West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station captain to retire

WEST HOLLYWOOD — West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station Capt. Gary S. Honings has announced plans to retire, concluding a 31-year career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

His retirement will be effective Oct. 30.

Honings’ career with the Sheriff’s Department began in 1984. After graduating from the Sheriff’s Training Academy as a deputy sheriff, his assignments included Pitchess Detention Center-East Facility, the Altadena Sheriff’s Station, and Recruit Training Bureau.

Upon his promotion to sergeant in 1996, Capt. Honings was assigned to Pitchess Detention Center-East Facility, followed by the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and the Office of the Undersheriff.

Honings was promoted to lieutenant in 2006 and was assigned to the North County Correctional Facility, West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, and as a division chief’s aide at Field Operations Region II Headquarters.

Honings served in the U.S. Air Force and the California Air National Guard.
